We're players, just like you.
Role Call was built by a group of lifelong D&D fans who know exactly how magical this game can be — and exactly how much it can hurt when it isn't.
A tale as old as Session Zero
It usually starts the same way. Someone says "hey, we should play D&D" and everyone's immediately in. Six people, three of whom have never played before. One game master who's terrified and thrilled in equal measure. A shared Google Doc titled "campaign ideas" that grows a little longer every week.
And then — real life. Scheduling becomes a puzzle with no solution. A player ghosts the group. Someone at the table makes it weird. The campaign dissolves before the party ever reaches level five, leaving everyone a little bruised and a lot sad.
That's a story we know personally. The Familiars behind Role Call have all lived some version of it. We love this game too much to accept that as the only story. So we built something better.
D&D is for everyone.
Finding your table shouldn't be a quest.
Tabletop roleplaying is one of the most human things you can do — collaborative storytelling, problem-solving together, laughing until your sides hurt over a nat-20 in the most absurd moment. But getting to the table? That part has always been harder than it should be.
Role Call exists to close that gap. Whether you're a brand-new player who doesn't know a d4 from a d20, a seasoned GM looking for a fresh table, or someone who had a rough experience and isn't sure if there's a place for you — there is. We're building that place.
Who are the Familiars?
In most D&D settings, a familiar is a magical companion — steadfast, loyal, and quietly making everything better from the background. That's us. We're the folks behind the curtain, rolling for initiative on your behalf so your table can actually get to the fun part.
Players at Heart
Every Familiar at Role Call plays or has played D&D. We ship features based on what we actually need at the table, not what looks good on a product roadmap.
Battle-Tested by Bad Groups
We've had the scheduling nightmares, the player conflicts, the campaigns that ended before they began. That experience lives in everything we build — we know what it costs when a group falls apart.
Rooting for You
We genuinely want your campaign to succeed. Every tool, every match, every decision on this site comes from a place of wanting you to find your people and run for years.
Our Values (yes, we have them)
These aren't words on a wall. They're the rules we play by.
Safety at the Table
Every player deserves to feel safe — physically, emotionally, socially. We build tools that support that, and we don't treat it as a niche concern.
Accessible by Design
D&D can feel intimidating to newcomers. We're here to lower that barrier — not with condescension, but with genuine care and smart tooling.
Community First
This isn't a platform for extracting value from players. It's a place built to grow a real community of people who love the same weird, wonderful game.
Honest & Transparent
We tell you what we're building and why. We have an AI policy you can actually read. We don't hide behind corporate language.
The Vibe Is Sacred
Session zero compatibility, play-style matching, tone preferences — these aren't fluff. Group vibe is everything, and we take it seriously.
This Is Supposed to Be Fun
We don't forget that at the end of the day, we're building a place for people to roll dice and tell stories together. That's the whole point. Don't lose the magic.
Your table is out there.
Come find it. We'll be here — quietly making the whole thing work, like any good familiar would.
