🛒 Buying & selling on Role Call

Marketplace Terms

Last updated: June 7, 2026 — Version 2026-06-07

📋

Overview

These Marketplace Terms govern buying and selling on Role Call, operated by Framework and Fable LLC (a Washington limited liability company), doing business as Role Call. They supplement and are part of our Terms of Service; defined terms there apply here. By listing, buying, or selling anything on the Service, you agree to these Marketplace Terms.

The marketplace currently supports three kinds of paid transactions:

  • Paid GM sessions and games — Game Masters charge players to run a session or campaign.
  • Artist commissions — approved artists sell commissioned artwork (also governed by the Artist Agreement).
  • Adventures — authors sell adventure modules and prep content (also governed by the Adventure Purchase License).

A "Seller" is a GM, artist, or author who lists paid offerings; a "Buyer" is a user who purchases them.

⚖️

Role Call's Role — We're the Platform, Not the Seller

Role Call provides the marketplace technology and facilitates payments, but the contract for any paid offering is directly between the Buyer and the Seller. The Seller — not Role Call — is the merchant of record and the provider of the game, commission, or adventure.

  • We do not create, own, deliver, or guarantee Sellers' offerings, and we do not control their quality, legality, safety, or accuracy.
  • We are not a broker, agent, or fiduciary of any Buyer or Seller, and we do not take title to anything sold.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe, and Seller payouts run through Stripe Connect. Funds for a sale are routed to the Seller's connected account, and Role Call retains its platform fee.
🧑‍🎨

Becoming a Seller

To receive payments, you must onboard with Stripe Connect and meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
  • Complete Stripe Connect onboarding and provide the identity, banking, and tax information Stripe requires.
  • Agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe Services Agreement, which govern payment processing and payouts.
  • Keep your account in good standing — charges and payouts are only available while Stripe has verified your account and enabled them.

We may decline, suspend, or remove Seller access at our discretion, including where Stripe restricts your account or where we determine your activity poses risk to Buyers or the Service.

💰

Prices, Platform Fees & Payouts

  • Pricing. Sellers set their own prices. Prices are shown to Buyers before checkout.
  • Platform fee. Role Call charges a platform fee on each transaction, disclosed at the time of listing or checkout. We may change the fee structure with at least 30 days' notice; changes do not affect transactions already completed.
  • Stripe fees. Stripe charges its own processing fees, which are separate from our platform fee.
  • Payouts. Stripe pays Sellers according to Stripe's payout schedule and the Seller's account settings. Role Call does not control the timing of Stripe payouts and is not liable for delays caused by Stripe or your bank.
  • Reserves & holds. Stripe or Role Call may place reserves or holds on funds, or reverse payouts, where required to cover refunds, chargebacks, suspected fraud, or policy violations.
🧾

Taxes

Sellers are solely responsible for determining, collecting (where required), reporting, and remitting all taxes on their earnings. Depending on your location and sales volume, Stripe may issue tax forms (such as a Form 1099-K) and report to tax authorities. Buyers are responsible for any taxes applicable to their purchases. Role Call does not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice; consult your own advisor.

🎲

Paid GM Sessions & Games

For paid sessions, payment may be authorized when a Buyer books and captured when the session runs. If a session is cancelled before it runs, the authorization is released or the payment is not captured. GMs must accurately describe what's included (system, duration, schedule, expectations) and honor the cancellation and no-show terms they publish. Buyers must pay the agreed amount and follow the GM's stated policies and our Community Guidelines.

Refunds, Cancellations & Chargebacks

  • Refund policy. A Seller's stated refund and cancellation policy applies to their offering. Where a Seller fails to deliver, materially misrepresents an offering, or where we detect fraud, we may — but are not obligated to — facilitate or issue a refund and offset it against the Seller's payouts.
  • Cancellations. If a Seller cancels (for example, a GM cancels a session), the Buyer is entitled to a refund of amounts paid for the cancelled offering, consistent with how the payment was captured.
  • Chargebacks. If a Buyer disputes a charge with their bank, the Seller is responsible for the disputed amount and any associated fees, which may be deducted from the Seller's balance or future payouts. Filing fraudulent chargebacks, or initiating a chargeback instead of using our dispute process, may result in suspension.
  • Dispute resolution. Buyers and Sellers should first try to resolve disputes directly. We may, at our discretion, help mediate and may make a final decision on platform-facilitated refunds, but we are not a party to the transaction and are not responsible for its outcome.

Seller Obligations

As a Seller, you agree to:

  • Deliver offerings as described, on time, and to the scope advertised;
  • Only sell content you own or are licensed to sell, that does not infringe others' rights and is lawful;
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with Buyers, and honor your published policies;
  • Comply with these Marketplace Terms, the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and (where applicable) the Artist Agreement and Adventure Purchase License.
🛍️

Buyer Obligations

  • Provide accurate payment information and pay the agreed amount;
  • Use purchases only as permitted by the applicable license or the Seller's terms;
  • Not abuse refunds or chargebacks, and not resell or redistribute content except as expressly allowed.
🚫

Prohibited Marketplace Conduct

  • Fee circumvention. Using the Service to find a counterparty and then moving the transaction off-platform to avoid platform fees.
  • Fake or manipulated reviews, including incentivized, self-authored, or retaliatory reviews.
  • Fraud, money laundering, or deceptive financial conduct, including collecting payment for offerings you don't intend to deliver.
  • Selling prohibited content, including content that is illegal, infringing, sexually explicit, or that sexualizes or endangers minors.

Reviews

Reviews must be honest and based on a genuine transaction. Sellers may publicly respond to reviews. We may remove reviews that violate our policies, and we do not guarantee that any review will be posted or kept.

Suspension & Removal

We may remove listings, withhold or reverse payouts, and suspend or terminate marketplace access for violations of these Marketplace Terms or our policies, for risk or legal reasons, or where Stripe restricts an account. Pending payouts may be held while we investigate. Amounts genuinely owed to a Seller for completed, undisputed transactions will be released subject to Stripe's processes and any applicable reserves.

⚠️

Disclaimers & Liability

The marketplace and all offerings are provided "as is." Role Call is not responsible for the acts, omissions, quality, or delivery of any Seller or the conduct of any Buyer, and disclaims liability for disputes between users to the maximum extent permitted by law. The disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification in our Terms of Service apply to all marketplace activity. Payment processing is provided by Stripe under its agreements; Role Call is not liable for Stripe's acts or omissions.

🔔

Changes

We may update these Marketplace Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated as described in our Terms of Service, and continued buying or selling after they take effect constitutes acceptance.
