Adventure Purchase License
Last updated: June 7, 2026 — Version 2026-06-07
Overview
An "Adventure" is a digital prep bundle for tabletop roleplaying — for example scenes, read-aloud text, GM notes, locations, NPCs, encounters, loot, and related content. This License governs your use of any Adventure you acquire on Role Call, whether by paying for it or by adding a free one to your library ("claiming"). It is part of our Terms of Service and Marketplace Terms.
When you acquire an Adventure, you receive a license to use it — you do not buy ownership of it. The author retains ownership and intellectual property rights.
What Your License Lets You Do
Subject to this License and any additional terms the author discloses at purchase, the author grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable, worldwide license to:
- Use the Adventure to prepare and run games for your own table, whether you play in person or online, and whether your game is free or one you charge to run as a GM;
- Install the Adventure into your campaigns on Role Call and use the Service's tools with it;
- Make annotations and reasonable personal copies needed to run your games;
- Share the content with the players at your table during play.
What You May Not Do
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, lend, or give away the Adventure or its files;
- Post or publish the Adventure publicly, or share it outside your own table;
- Use the Adventure to create a competing product, compilation, or derivative for distribution;
- Remove or alter any copyright, author, or attribution notices;
- Bulk-download, scrape, or systematically copy Adventures;
- Transfer your license to anyone else (one license is tied to the acquiring account).
Ownership & Intellectual Property
The author retains all right, title, and interest in the Adventure, except for the limited license granted to you here. Authors grant Role Call a license to host, display, and distribute their Adventures to operate the marketplace. Some Adventures incorporate game-system or third-party content used under separate licenses (such as open gaming licenses); that content remains subject to those licenses — see our Credits & Attribution page. Where an author applies a more permissive license to specific content, that license controls for that content.
Updates & Availability
Authors may publish updated versions of an Adventure, and authors or Role Call may change, unpublish, or remove an Adventure. Your access depends on your account remaining active and on the continued availability of the Service; we do not guarantee that any Adventure will remain available indefinitely.
Refunds
Adventures are digital goods to which access is granted immediately, so refunds are limited and governed by our Marketplace Terms and any refund policy the author discloses. Where an Adventure is materially not as described or fails to deliver, we may facilitate a refund as described in the Marketplace Terms.
Termination
This License ends automatically if you breach it, and may end if your account is terminated. On termination you must stop using the Adventure and delete copies in your possession, except where law permits otherwise.
Disclaimer & Liability
Adventures are provided "as is" by their authors. The disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification in our Terms of Service apply. Role Call does not author, endorse, or guarantee any Adventure and is not responsible for its content or quality.
